The
PlayStation 5 is as much about performance as it is visual fidelity, the sort of buttery smooth 60-fps presentation that was mostly not-a-thing during the previous console gen. Which is why we're seeing different options crop up -- do you want a 4K quality mode with ray-tracing at 30-fps, or a 60-fps performance option without those bells and whistles. With
Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, developer
Insomniac is offering the best of both worlds.
Out on June 11, the day-one version of the game will offer up a performance ray-tracing mode -- that is 60-fps with ray-tracing enabled, albeit at a lower resolution than the 4K option. This is something Insomniac added to the impressive
Marvel's Spider-Man Miles Morales in a post-launch update, due to popular demand.
So yeah, it's great to see it coming to the PS5 launch of Ratchet out of the gate.
