From Bethesda, id Software, and developers Avalanche Studios comes the sequel that we didn't even know we needed. And we say that because after yesterday's lackluster live-action teaser (lets face it live-action trailers for games rarely excite) comes the first gameplay trailer for Rage 2. Part Fallout, Quake, DOOM, Mad Max, and all awesome. This is fast-paced open world carnage on a scale rarely seen.

And it goes without saying that the splashes of neon colour via smoke and paint add a sense of vibrant fun to the otherwise grim post-apocalyptic wasteland. Like the most recent Mad Max film.

Mankind is in peril. In the decades following an asteroid’s devastation, most of the earth has become an unforgiving wildland where bloodthirsty factions vie for control of precious resources. Pockets of civilization have emerged to claim their space in the world, but the tentative peace they’ve established is being threatened. RAGE 2 follows Walker, the last Ranger of Vineland, as he fights to survive the chaos of the dystopian world into which he was born. With a wide array of weapons, vehicles and strange powers, Walker sets off to take down the tyrannical Authority.

Returning in Rage 2, and by the looks of it brought to the fore, is the implementation of hero-style Nanotrite abilities for the main protagonist. Which includes an Overdrive super-style bar and a Force-push energy move. Naturally, vehicle combat will play a major role too. No release date has been set other than a window of 2019 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC. Expect to see and hear more on Rage 2 at E3.
