Bethesda has today announced in a new blog post that those attending QuakeCon 2014 this year will have the chance to literally save lives with their blood, thanks to an American Red Cross blood drive that will attend the event.

To help go along with the theme of upcoming title The Evil Within, those 17 and older who donate their blood will be offered themed goodie bags as a thank you. Donors will receive an official The Evil Within-branded chill pack, a cold pack that be put in the freezer and used to chill lunch boxes and coolers.

"QuakeCon has a great group of attendees who we think will want to help the community by donating blood," said Bethesda vice president of PR and marketing Pete Hines. "The American Red Cross is a terrific organization, and we're thrilled to welcome them to QuakeCon."

"The Red Cross is grateful for Bethesda Softworks' invitation to host a blood drive during such a critical time," added Jan Hale, American Red Cross' external communications manager. "The summer months are a particularly difficult period for blood collections and being a part of this event gives us more opportunities to help save lives."
