Fresh from QuakeCon comes news of the Skyrim Collector's Edition, something which will no doubt be popular amongst the huge number of people that are eagerly hanging out for this game - well, at least those of them that have AUD$199.99 to drop. Unfortunately we get a bit screwed on price again as the US pricing is only USD$149.99. Here's what you can look forward to:
Alduin Statue: Created in conjunction with the IP Factory, this collector’s only statue stands 12” tall and is made of high quality PVC. Modeled from actual in-game 3D digital files, it showcases Alduin, the World Eater. He stands perched atop one the game’s many dragon walls that teach the player the lethal language of dragons.
‘The Art of Skyrim’ Official Art Book: Featuring over 200 pages of striking, full-color illustrations, sketches and models, this stunning 9 3/8” x 12 1/8” coffee table book showcases the characters, creatures, environments, and weaponry of Skyrim. With a foreword by game director Todd Howard and commentary from Bethesda Game Studios artists, readers will be guided through the game’s iconic visual style.
‘The Making of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim’ DVD This documentary DVD contains exclusive, behind-the-scenes footage, including interviews with the Bethesda Game Studios team as they take you from concept to creation and provide insights into the story, gameplay, setting, legacy of the Elder Scrolls franchise, and much more.
Check out the Bethesda blog For more details.

AusGamers' own Steve Farrelly is currently at QuakeCon and has been getting some time to play Skyrim, so stay tuned for our full preview!

that's what you should get for paying full retail $89.
~$40 for the game is right.

TBH, Elder Scrolls games are probably the only ones I'll pay $100 for. I know without a doubt I will definitely be getting my $100 worth and more out of it.

$200 for a map and a big paperweight but? no thanks. Like I said in another thread its better just finding a high quality PDF (or jpeg, whatever floats ya boat) and printing it out on premium photo paper :P
the ones I did for Witcher 2 turned out f*****g grouse.

Edit* - F*** I didn't realise there was an art book. f***. I'm a sucker for those, my whole post is now null & void ><

Yeah, not happy about that either. Hopefully saner heads will prevail and they'll drop it.
Sad that indies get a bit of cash and can become a target for the big guys with rabid lawyers.

Yeah... no doubt its the work of suits... it's a shame when entire development teams get branded a******* because top end suits pull a d***-move to get some more moolah.

I'm usually all over CEs like a bad rash but $200 for a statue, art book and dvd that i never watch? Yeah... i'll stick with the $50 thanks. Though I would love that cloth map.

would you buy it if it was $150?

I just wonder how much of people not wanting it is because of the usual arbitrary Australia tax we have to pay on it

I of course noticed that the cost was upped for Aus, but even at $150 I would not buy it, but then again I've never bought any CE, I see no reason too.

This probably won't be there long as they are taking these down almost as fast as they are being put up...

Skyrim Quakecon footage...the video freezes around the 25min mark and when it comes back it is out of sync.

Skyrim Quakecon

I am just concerned that this is almost identical to the E3 videos that are around...they say nothing is scripted yet it seems animals are in the same place the dragons are all in the same places they were in the E3 videos.

The dragon picks up that big guy and drops him, identical to the E3 playthrough....don't get me wrong the game looks to be awesome, I just think the Bethesda hype machine is running at the mouth as usual with what the game and it's systems will be able to do and this looks like it is a preset demo when you compare it to the E3 playthrough.

theborg, during e3 im pretty sure they said that they had to script some of the e3 footage so they could show off cool s*** like the dragons. at release it wont be scripted.

edit: he said the same thing during this vid.

i will probably get skyrim but i wouldn't pay $200 or $150 for it. about $40-50 for the bargain bin version for me.
i don't mind waiting till it's been out a while.. plenty of good games to play atm.
for $200 i guess bethesda is really counting on some hardcore fanboys :/

i won't say no, or yes, to buying the Collectors Ed until I see it for myself, it all depends on the quality of the goods, if it s worth it then its worth it.

Art book, Statue, Cloth map and a making of DVD, all packed up nicely, it 8may8 be worth the money if the quality is top notch.

I'm pretty sure it'd cost me $50 to have one Fedex'd here from the US, so might as well check it out locally.

I'm bumping this thread instead of making a new one because it's been mentioned in here before:

Notch has thrown down the gauntlet to Bethesda in an old school 3v3 Quake 3 deathmatch. Haha, awesome idea!
