Speaking with
USA Today, Microsoft Studios Publishing general manager Shannon Loftis reiterated that next year's Project Scorpio will run first-party titles in native 4K. Following from the recent PlayStation 4 Pro announcement, and it's 4K-upscaling, it seems that Microsoft is taking every opportunity to tout the capabilities of its still very mysterious Project Scorpio console.
And hey, it's like we're back in the '90s and in the midst of an all-out console war. With Microsoft being second-place Sega to Sony's dominant Nintendo. The full quote singles out first-party releases, probably because those are the ones that the company has full control over. And much like the PS4 Pro, adding Scorpio-specific features to a title will be optional.
Any games we're making that we're launching in the Scorpio time frame, we're making sure they can natively render at 4K.
By the time the Scorpio launches it's expecting that 4K displays will be more present in homes than they are now. But to maintain 4K, the question of price will certainly factor in to see if the Scorpio can compete with the more wallet-friendly $559 PS4 Pro.

Of course, being loud is all they've got, right now.
