Responding to popular demand, the team of former Silicon Knights developers at Precursor Games have opened a project page for Shadow of the Eternals on Kickstarter, allowing potential backers to pledge funds to the game through the familiar third party intermediary holding the purse strings until the goal is met.

The goal of the Kickstarter project has been set at a lofty US$1.35M, which is the remaining amount required to meet the $1.5M target set by Precursor on the in-house crowdfunding site they launched last week.

Pitched as a spiritual successor to acclaimed Gamecube title Eternal Darkness, the Shadow of the Eternals project has been heavily scrutinised due to negative press surrounding the demise of Silicon Knights, and its poorly-received games Too Human and X-Men: Destiny.

You can catch a nine minute gameplay demo of the prospective game below, and head over to Kickstarter to contribute.

Based on Silicon Knights track record I would not be giving these guys any money up front. It's been 11 years since Eternal Darkness.
