From its humble beginnings as a console prototype created by a team of Microsoft employees on the DirectX team, to the release of the original Xbox, and even dealing with the now infamous Red Ring of Death hardware faults of the Xbox 360 - Power On: The Story of Xbox is a new documentary series about all things Xbox.

It's set to debut December 13, 2021 and you can check out the very cool trailer for it below.


This December, we invite you to go behind the scenes and discover the true story behind the creation of Xbox and the 20-year journey that followed. Told by the team that lived it, Power On: The Story of Xbox is a documentary series that takes you back to the scrappy beginnings of Xbox as a passion project from a small group of gamers within Microsoft. It continues through the generations and shares never seen before details about some of Xbox’s biggest challenges like the dreaded Red Ring of Death.

Bonus points for cutting to Steve Ballmer dancing during the Windows 95 launch when his name is mentioned.
