Flying Wild Hogs -- a new Poland-based independent studio comprised of developers from People Can Fly (Painkiller, Bulletstorm), CD Project RED (The Witcher) and City Interactive (Sniper: Ghost Warrior) -- have announced their debut title, a "dark sci-fi" themed first person shooter titled Hard Reset.
The PC-exclusive title transports players to a haunting, dystopian future, with humanity on the verge of extinction, confined to its last standing city and under constant threat from the robotic hordes that aim to annihilate mankind.
Not only is the game currently PC exclusive and reportedly built on their own in-house engine technology, but it's also due to ship very shortly, in "September 2011".

A teaser trailer (embedded below or here for HD) and three screenshots accompany the announcement and you can find some more details in the official press release as well as this exclusive Q&A over at PC Gamer.

I misread this as "Posh" and immediately thought of the guys who did braid.

After re-reading, I'm actually pretty psyched. Here's hoping it scales a little better than the witcher 2 though.

Hell, even if I don't play it, I'll probably still buy it just to support their PC's first game mentality :)

Looks similar Bioshock from the screens.

Yeah has a BioShock meets Deus Ex feel to it. Wonder if it'll be any good!

meets bladerunner meets gotham city and potentially 5th element? (environments wise)

Must of been kept secret for quite awhile. Looks good from screens. And a PC only game to.

Yeah I'm not fussed by no vids of it in action, just means they've kept a good lid on it.

Dunno i think it would have been better for them business wise to port it to at least the 360 but it does look quite good... and quite often the first games from indie studios are the best.

Meh, just look at Witcher 2. That sold a s*** load and was only on PC. Also if PC does well, then they can fund console development.

I wish Ausgamers would ditch this s***** embedded video player and just use YouTube.

Too little to really get excited about the game. I loved the Witcher 2, but that's not really helpful here.

Added four more images (2 screenshots, 2 concept art) to our gallery: http://www.ausgamers.com/games/hard-reset/screenshots/

They also sent along an official fact sheet, here's the feature list:
  • A haunting cyberpunk / dark sci-fi setting
  • Fast-paced, old-school shooter gameplay
  • Hordes of enemies to destroy
  • Epic boss fights
  • A deep, experience-based weapon upgrade system
  • High-fidelity graphics with full dynamic lighting
  • Extensive use of physics and dynamic environments

So for anyone expecting a Deus Ex style game just because of the distopian theme, I wouldn't count on it. Sounds much more like it's going to be more Painkiller/Serious Sam style -- fast-paced game that throws hordes of enemies at you. Hopefully it has large-scale co-op!
