So far we've got a look at the hardware and tech that makes up next-gen VR for PlayStation. And yeah, specs-wise, PlayStation VR2 is sounding pretty great. With a visual style that fits in with the PlayStation 5, it'll leverage that console's power to deliver 4K VR with full motion tracking. Today comes new info on the user experience.

This includes a see-through view so you can see your surroundings when playing or setting it up. Much like with the Oculus and Meta headsets it's a black and white image, but takes advantage of the inside-out tracking and cameras to locate PS VR2 Sense controllers via a simple button press. This can also be used to fine-tune the play area that also includes a room-scan option.

As per the description if you get close to a boundary "you will receive a warning that you are closely approaching the play area boundary". These settings can be modified at any time and will be saved and stored until you change play areas.

In terms of in-game and dedicated PSVR 2 experiences with a PS5 HD Camera, you'll be able to broadcast yourself playing games in VR with a handy stream-friendly overlay.

Also, PSVR 2 will introduce a special VR Mode that will deliver a 360-degree view in a virtual environment displayed in 4000x2040 HDR resolution - at either 90Hz or a 120Hz refresh rate. This isn't limited to VR games, you'll be able to explore the PS5 dash and system UI and play non-VR games or watch media in a virtual cinema.

It's all sounding very cool and Sony is hinting that we'll be getting more info on a launch date and additional games soon, so stay tuned.
