Specifically the Seagate FireCuda 530 Heatsink M2 drive which features a blisteringly fast 7,300 MB/s sequential read speed -- matching the requirements for PlayStation 5 storage expansion. The cutting edge PCIe Gen4 drives are also compatible with PC (and for that there's also a non-heatsink version), but no doubt all eyes are on expanding that PS5 storage.

Available in 500GB, 1TB, 2TB, and 4TB variants, pricing is as follows:

  • Seagate 530 (Heatsink) 500GB – $239 AUD
  • Seagate 530 (Heatsink) 1TB – $399 AUD
  • Seagate 530 (Heatsink) 2TB – $819 AUD
  • Seagate 530 (Heatsink) 4TB -$1,499 AUD

MVAVE currently has pricing for the above coming in at under retail, though the Heatsink models are still listed as "Pre Order".

As per Sony's own guidelines, "using an M.2 SSD with your PS5 console requires effective heat dissipation with a cooling structure, such as a heatsink" making this model the one to go for.

With only 667GB of usable internal storage available for PS5 games, adding 1 or 2TB will do wonders for the ever expanding library of games coming to the console. Not to mention the monthly offerings available for PlayStation Plus subscribers.
