Or, that's what we've taken away from an invitation that was sent out to press for a "PlayStation Meeting" scheduled for September 7 in New York. An event that just about everyone is expecting to be all about the 4K-capable PlayStation 4 "Neo" console. The mid-generation upgrade that will provide a sizeable performance boost over the current PlayStation 4.

The existence of the Neo has been known for several months now, with the system specs being leaked months ago. With Sony itself acknowledging that a more powerful PlayStation 4 was in the works. After a no-show at E3, and Microsoft entering the supped up current-gen console game with the announcement of the Scorpio, many were left wondering if the mysterious Neo was still on-track for its rumoured October release.

If the event is all about the Neo then we can probably rule out a release so soon. If it's not about the Neo, then we're not sure what'll happen on September 7. Perhaps a new Vita? Or a reminder that PlayStation VR is coming. Either way, it'll be interesting to see what the future of PlayStation holds.
