With 70.6 million units sold through as of December 3. The numbers don't stop there with over 617.8 million copies of PS4 games sold and over 2 million PSVR units. Which, when you add it all up, is a lot. Okay, so maybe that's not exactly a proper analytical response - but hey, with these figures the PlayStation 4 has become one of the most popular consoles of all time.
And with Microsoft no longer reporting sales figures for the Xbox One we can only assume that the PS4 is the clear market leader, with estimates pointing to roughly twice as many Sony machines out there than Microsoft consoles. Strangely, the figures supplied don't include PS4 Pro sales as a separate number.
"We are delighted that so many people are enjoying the unique entertainment proposition of PlayStation 4 and that an emerging technology like PlayStation VR continues to gain traction," said Andrew House, Chairman of Sony Interactive Entertainment. "I cannot thank our fans and partners enough. Their support, since the launch of very first PlayStation in 1994, has helped to make PlayStation one of the biggest console gaming networks in the world. We will continue to work closely with partners to maintain this momentum and remain steadfast in making PS4 the best place to play."
And with the annual PSX event scheduled for this weekend, expect some big PS4 news to close out 2017.
