Sony Computer Entertainment are accepting of the unfortunate fact that there's simply not enough PlayStation 4 consoles coming into Australia to sate the holiday season demand of local consumers, and they have just let us know that it not going to be until February in the new year that we'll be seeing a significant amount of new stock arriving on our shores.
With that in mind, Sony's cheeky PR crew are urging us to look on the bright side and consider February as a second Christmas. Spin it until you're dizzy:
Sony Computer Entertainment Australia (SCE Aust.) today confirmed it is expecting significant quantities of the new PlayStation®4 (PS4™) system to arrive in Australia early next year. The new stock will not only fulfil all current pre-orders but will offer thousands more fans the opportunity to own a PlayStation 4 from February 2014 onwards. With the demand for this next gen console surpassing all expectations, SCE Aust. has worked with Australian retailers to limit fans’ wait time for their console.
Michael Ephraim, Managing Director at SCE Aust., said, “Since launch on November 29 our priority has always been to get additional stock into Australia as quickly as possible to fulfil the overwhelming demand. The best way to guarantee your PS4 in February is by going to your preferred retailer, either in store or online, before Christmas to place your pre-order. With this announcement, it looks like Christmas will come again in February for players across Australia.”
Thanks Sony Santa!
The PlayStation 4 has been welcomed by huge demand in all launch territories, claiming to be the "biggest launch ever for a console game system" with 2.1million units sold globally in its first 2 weeks.
