Sony Online Entertainment's free-to-play shooter PlanetSide 2 is coming to PlayStation 4 on January 20th in closed beta form, the developer confirmed today.
PlanetSide 2's PS4 closed beta will roll out to a "few thousand" players who have opted in to play the beta test of the massively multiplayer online first-person shooter. SOE is currently accepting beta applicants
through the PlanetSide 2 website. All you need to do is submit your email to be considered for an invite.
"We'll be using this beta period to test our servers, performance, and various other aspects of the game, and we also want you to share constructive feedback on PlanetSide 2," executive producer Clint Worley wrote on the
PlayStation Blog. "How does the game look and feel? Is navigating through the menus intuitive and utilizing DualShock 4 in the best way? All players in the Closed Beta will have access to our special Beta forums, which will be the primary location for development interaction and feedback."
Like other free-to-play games on PS4, PlanetSide 2 will not require a PlayStation Plus subscription to play online. Sadly SOE will be keeping both the PC version and PlayStation 4 separately at this time.
