This year too. Chalk this one up as a very pleasant surprise because Planet of the Apes is one of the greatest cinematic sci-fi franchises of all time*. And that includes both the original series from the late '60s and early '70s, and the recent re-imagining that saw the release of War for the Planet of the Apes. In fact this comes from actor Andy Serkis' Imaginarium Studios.
Here's the cinematic trailer.
Now, first off the visuals look incredible. Coming from a studio that was founded by motion capture genius Andy Serkis, it's no wonder it looks as good as it does. But in terms of game, well as per the announcement this is a "a narrative adventure game" with "multiple endings". A sort of Telltale's Planet of the Apes. Story-wise the events will take place between the Dawn of the Planet of the Apes and War for the Planet of the Apes films.
Here's a six minute clip from IGN showcasing both an ape and human sequence and the sort of dialogue (and ape sign-language) choices you can expect to find.
I won't lie, I love Planet of the Apes so this has quickly become one of my most anticipated games of 2017. Or, narrative adventure games.
