Around mid-2020 to be exact, with Frontier Developments bringing its popular sandbox, create-what-you-want theme park sim to consoles after being exclusive to PC for sometime. Now, Planet Coaster is the sort of game you'd expect to find on PC. Thousands of building blocks to choose from, a complex and intricate UI, and the need to zoom-in to create your own paths and sculpt the landscape.
So, while we're hoping the team nails the controller as input for a sim approach to Planet Coaster - here's to keyboard and mouse support coming along for the ride too. As both the Xbox One and PS4 have that option, there's no reason it shouldn't be an option.
Controller worries aside, we say all that because Planet Coaster is a pretty amazing game. And something that deserves a Solid Snake port.
Planet Coaster: Console Edition brings all of the depth, strategy and customisation found in the beloved PC game, allowing new players the chance to dream big and build bigger on their journey to simulation stardom while benefiting from the ongoing development since its original launch.
The living, breathing world of Planet Coaster combines physics driven realism, piece by piece construction and advanced simulation to offer control over every aspect of a park. The challenging yet rewarding sim tasks players to be the boss as they create the park of their dreams, full of thrills, chills and spills.
Players can build jaw dropping, white knuckle roller-coasters that challenge the law of physics and stomachs alike, place an empire of food, gift and merchandise shops, add exhilarating rides and hire a crack team of theme park staff to help deliver the ultimate experience for visitors in this sophisticated management simulation.
No word on how it will handle the sharing of user-created objects or mods, but as per the description above the Console Edition is aiming for full feature parity and won't be a cut-down release.
