Okay so maybe not trains, but I'll take any excuse to reference one of the greatest comedies of all time. Earlier today Ubisoft lifted the lid on The Crew 2, the sequel to its open-world racing game that blended story, events, and RPG-like progression. It was an interesting if flawed game. And now with The Crew 2, Ubisoft is looking to improve on what's come before -- with the addition of planes, boats, and bikes.

Here's a gameplay video showcasing different vehicles racing through New York.

The newest iteration in the revolutionary franchise, The Crew 2 captures the thrill of the American motorsports spirit in one of the most exhilarating open worlds ever created. Welcome to Motornation, a huge, varied, action-packed, and beautiful playground built for motorsports throughout the entire US of A. Enjoy unrestrained exploration on ground, sea, and sky. From coast to coast, street and pro racers, off-road explorers, and freestylers gather and compete in all kinds of disciplines. Join them in high-octane contests and share every glorious moment with the world.

One thing that we're excited about is the lack of crime-story that made the first game feel a little clumsy. Instead, with The Crew 2 you're simply tasked with becoming the best racing person alive. Which sounds like the sort of fun that made Forza Horizon 3 such a hit. Plus, even without a cinematic story mode it feels more ambitious than the first game. Because you'll still get to race around a digital version of the entire USA -- but this time across land, sea, and air.

The Crew 2 is on track for release Early 2018 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.
