The Penny Arcade Expo, a gaming convention aimed at giving gamers a chance to interact with the industry, has been officially announced (thanks Verge!) at this years PAX panel to be making its way to Australia next year. The PAX event will be running for a full four days, and will feature a large amount of gaming needs and hosts.
The Australian convention will mark Penny Arcade's third yearly event, joining PAX Prime in Seattle and PAX East in Boston, and will bring the expo internationally for the first time.

"We will," Krahulik answered when asked about bringing Penny Arcade Expo to England. "I can't say when."
While no date or location has been announced yet, it's great news for Australian gamers and hopefully we can see a large amount of local talent showcased at the event.

Bummer. Thought it was going to be an historical display of stand-up and c***tail machines. Oh well, back to MAME.

I'm just looking forward to a high quality local gaming convention for gamers, and not something like that EB games thing which is just a thinly veiled marketting exercise.

I just assumed it would be in Sydney.
If it's in Brisbane I would be keen to go along.

That is basically exactly what is on now in Melbourne at ACMI. You should go check it out if you're interested; I went there a couple weeks ago and it was great. Unfortunately I was sick at the time and a) didn't feel like spending a lot of time there b) didn't want to touch anything in case I spread Ebola or something so didn't get to do as much there as I wanted, but it's a really neat historical view of gaming over the last several decades. http://www.acmi.net.au/game_on.aspx

Penny Arcade Expo Coming to Australia
F*** yeah!

Any events which cause gamers to get outside is a huge boon for the industry imo.

Personally I think events like this change the public perception of gamers from being psychopaths waiting to break bad, to something much more truthful.

That and it sounds really fun. Saldy it's far away.. :(

I hope Brisbane. We have a new tunnel and everything! If it is good enough for G20, it must at least be half ready for PAX!

I've decided that no matter which city it is in, I'm going.

Brisbane never gets anything cool. Except for when Weird Al played here last year.
