When Assassin's Creed IV's first single-player content expansion, Freedom Cry downloadable content launched on Xbox Live and PlayStation Network earlier this week, an offering for owners of the PC version of the game was notably absent.

Ubisoft has now confirmed (thanks Videogamer that the PC version of Freedom Cry has in fact been delayed beyond intention to launch on platforms simultaneously, but that it will be released very soon, albeit avoiding committing to a new launch date:

“The PC version of the Freedom Cry DLC for Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag will release in the coming days. We are taking the extra time to apply a final layer of polish to ensure that it meets the expectations of our fans.”

Read: there were too many bugs so it's taking longer than expected.

It's better than the Wii U version of the game, for which Ubisoft have expressed that they have 'no plans' for AC4 DLC on the Nintendo box, presumably due to a poor sales on the platform.

Freedom Cry puts players in the pirate boots of Adéwalé , liberated slave that joined Ed Kenway as quartermaster in the Black Flag campaign. Check out this official blog entryfor some of the new features and differences the new player character brings to the table.
