The public database set up to scan the Steam Network's Content Description Record and detect any new additions has uncovered several intriguing new entries of late, suggesting that a few familiar games are preparing to make their way onto the popular PC digital distribution platform.

Once again, it's the always-enterprising folk on the NeoGAF forums that have noticed the latest listings, which among a couple of dozen titles, include the likes of Dyad, Fez, Duke Nukem 3D: Atomic Edition, and Shadow Warrior Complete, Quantum Conundrum 2, and most surprisingly: Halo 2, Halo 3, and Halo: Combat Evolved. Brutal Legend was also notably discovered in the same manner a few days ago.

Many titles discovered this way in the past --such as Sword and Sworcery, and Alan Wake have accurately predicted the game's upcoming PC release before it was revealed, but it's difficult to say if that will be the case again here.

Polygon reports that Dyad creator Shawn McGrath has fessed up, and confirmed that his previously PSN exclusive game is indeed planned for a PC release on Steam in March. Fez creator Phil Fish has offered no such confirmation on a Steam release for his acclaimed dimensional-bending platformer, however comments made last month that it would be "ported to other platforms", make it a very likely bet.

The original Halo trilogy however, is more curious, as Microsoft has reportedly responded to Eurogamer with the statement "We currently do not have plans to release any 'Halo' titles on Steam". That said, MS has been known to generally provide a more conclusive denial when rumours such as this one are patently untrue, so we're not going to count it out --even if the appearance of Halo 2 on Steam (as distinct from its previous Games for Windows launch), would call into question the recent decision to shut down the game's online multiplayer servers.

The prospect of a possible sequel to Airtight Games' Quantum Conundrum, and a PC version of Double-fine's heavy metal adventure Brutal Legend are also tantalising, but their respective publishers are staying silent for now, so we'll just have to wait and see what shakes out.

Id love Halo 3 to be released on PC. Good multiplayer but controllers sucks for shooters.

Final Fantasy 7 was also found in steam resources almost a year ago. It is still not on Steam yet was re-released on PC.

I take this rumour with an ocean of salt rather than just a pinch.

GG microwank...

"Hey, now that we've totally flogged halo into the ground, let's release Halo 3 to those PC scumbags like 5 years late and charge them full price!"

If it doesn't have dedi's, they won't see a cent, but if it does, I may be tempted... I did play the hell out of the first.

And swear to god if they make it windows 8 only, I'll hunt the f*****s down...

Why wouldn't halo 3 come to games for windows live as an exclusive or whatever? Has MS given up on it?
