And it's an event that combine the planning and organisational talents of the teams behind PAX West, PAX Australia, as well as EGX, for what is being described as "a steady 24/7 stream of content, events, discussions, and gameplay". PAX Online is going be huge, running for nine straight days from September 12 to September 20.

This news follows on from yesterday's announcement of the in-person extravaganza that is PAX Australia being cancelled for 2020 - with the Melbourne event on track to return in 2021.

“First and foremost, PAX has always been about the incredible community created by everyone involved, from the attendees, panelists, exhibitors, and our amazing enforcers ” said Jerry Holkins, co-founder of PAX. “PAX Online will recreate that shared experience, along with everyone’s other favorite elements from game reveals, exclusive hands-on experiences, the chance to hear from and speak with your favorite game developers, journalists as well as content creators, and so much more. Even if we can’t all meet in Seattle or Melbourne this year, we look forward to reconnecting with friends, and welcoming everyone to our new home, PAX Online.”

Best of all, PAX Online will be entirely free and open to all - with the only requirement being an internet connection and a few snacks located at arm's length. As an online event the planners are looking to capture the community feel of PAX in addition to hosting various esports tournaments and playable game demos that will let you walk through the various booths at home. On that front PAX Online will continue the very cool trend of highlighting local talent via the Indie Showcase.
