After successfully selling out this year on their first venture outside of America, the Penny Arcade Expo will be returning to Melbourne, Australia come 31st October, 2014 (thanks Bepatient).

Minister for Innovation, Services and Small Business Louise Ashe revealed the news today, stating that “PAX is the world’s leading games festival and the return of PAX Australia to Melbourne for the second consecutive year highlights Victoria’s reputation as a key hub for games development in the Asia Pacific region."

“This year’s event in Melbourne represented the first time that PAX had been held outside of the United States – not only was it a great coup for Melbourne but the event was a runaway success.”

AusGamers was on the scene this year for the first Australian PAX and we are giddy with anticipating to see what is on offer next year. You can read up Steve's thoughts from the event this year and expect full coverage on AusGamers come next year.

PAX Australia 2014 will be taking place at the larger Melbourne Convention & Exhibition Centre, to be held from 31st October to 2nd November. For more on the event hit up the official website.

I reckon more significant than the venue change is the date. Late October instead of this year's July means that a lot more playable code from the big publishers more likely to be on display, and more international devs likely to be making the trip to promote their holiday window products.

Not being on the same weekend as another big international tradeshow (like PAX Aus was with San Diego ComicCon this year) will also be a plus.

Nah the venue change is (as a punter) more important to me.

The showground logistics s***, travel etc was complete and utter f*****g balls. I probably wouldn't be back if it hadn't been moved to a CBD location rather than stranding us out in the middle of NOWHERE.

With a bit of luck as its in the Convention Centre there will be people who actually know how to put on an event like this involved too..

Only issue is that it buts right up against Melbourne Cup Carnival so flights and accom etc are going to be a premium.

Great news. I'm super keen about the change in venue, will feel a bit less trapped and easily be able to go to and from the sessions. Lookin' good!

Venue change is the best thing. It was utter balls where it was and I live here, can't imagine how difficult it was for visitors. That f*****g line to get in was stupid and snaking back on itself shows the venue was bad.

Plus having all the white powdery stuff form my Churros (that I lined up ~30 minutes for) was blowing all over my jacket because of having to walk outside in the middle of winter in Melbourne.

Yeah the lines were pretty absurd, I never actually got to sit in on any of the panels which kind of sucks but I had plenty of fun on the ground meeting all of you guys. Did see the Xbox event with bepatient though which was awesome (and also thank you for the ride once again, much appreciated). Really surprised me how the feedback was after that event, considering the Internet was all up in arms over the console.

Eager to see how we go next year, bring it on!

There was heaps of panels I wanted to see but by the time we got to line up it was already passed cut off point.. and that was sometimes up to an hour before the panel starter.

Haha, wow, literally right in the middle of the melbourne cup carnival, that saturday is Derby day.

On the plus side, I guess the convention centre is right near the casino and there'll be drunk skanks to pick up?
