Which is described as an independent modding platform that's open to all modders. Naturally the service will begin with one of Paradox Interactive' own titles Surviving Mars - available on Xbox One and PC. How it works is pretty simple, with mod creators being able to share their work with players across Xbox One and PC via a single upload.

And being open, this also applies to PC ecosystems like GOG.com. Very cool. The following video showcases the update coming to Surviving Mars which incidentally also brings keyboard and mouse support to the Xbox One version alongside 30 mods from creators.

“Modding has been, and remains an important part of the Paradox community. As we have diversified the way we distribute our games, we want to make sure all our players can take part in the creation process,” said Anders Törlind, Product Owner for Paradox Mods. “For Surviving Mars, we have worked with mod creators to support Paradox Mods with some of the best mods available, all in one place and downloadable in-game or simply using a web browser. We really look forward to unlocking the world of modding for all members of our community, regardless of what system they are using to play our games.”

Support will be coming to more Paradox tiles later in the year. And this is the sort of stuff that closes the gap between console versions of PC titles - especially in the strategy and sim space. Which is why Paradox titles like Cities: Skylines traditionally play better on PC. So it's great to see services like this crop up, with official support from Microsoft.
