Which was inevitable thanks to the addition of eight expansion teams coming to next year's competition - scheduled to kick off on Friday 15 February, 2019. The new Overwatch League teams will join the two existing divisions with Paris, Toronto, Washington D.C. and Atlanta joining the Atlantic Division, and Vancouver, Chengdu, Guangzhou and Hangzhou joining the Pacific Division.
Each team will play 28 matches over four five-week stages at Blizzard Arena Los Angeles. With division winners and the next four top teams, regardless of division, set to qualify for the postseason playoffs. Plus, spots for two additional teams based on a tournament.
To accommodate the bigger schedule, teams will get bigger breaks between stages and matches - playing on average one or two matches per week. A full Overwatch League schedule for 2019 will be announced later this year.
