Vancouver-based studio SKS Games - comprised of Australian expat special effects artists who have worked on films like Tron Legacy and 300 - has unveiled a new gameplay trailer for their Oculus Rift supported first-person horror title The Forest.
As you would guess from the title, the game takes place in a forest after you are left stranded from a freak plane crash. You'll have to stay alive by trusting your survival instincts and learning how to build a shelter, hunt for food, maintain warmth, farm for food and set traps as you find you are sadly not the only one living in this forest.
The new gameplay trailer takes a look at life in the forest after your initial plane crash that left you stranded. With a glimpse at how exactly you begin to adapt to your surroundings through makeshift crafting and natural food sources, you'll come to realise that something isn't right with the island you crashed on.
SKS's Mick Solomons previously revealed that inspiration for The Forest came from various cult classic films like The Descent and Cannibal Holocaust. Solomons also explained that as the player you'll be able to choose "between combat with crude weapons or taking the stealthy approach" when it comes to fighting enemies.
The title has now been successfully passed on Steam's Greenlight program, with development progressing along nicely. You can find the trailer below but beware, it will scare your pants off.
