After a month or more of teasers, speculation, and leaks today comes the official announcement of three new GPUs from NVIDIA the RTX 2060 SUPER, the RTX 2070 SUPER, and the RTX 2080 SUPER. The first two of which will be available on July 9, with the RTX 2080 SUPER launching later in the month. So then, what does this all mean? And why SUPER? Well, it’s all part of the new GeForce RTX line-up.
Which now sits as follows:
GeForce RTX 2080 Ti - $1899 AUD
GeForce RTX 2080 SUPER - $1209 AUD
GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER - $860 AUD
GeForce RTX 2060 SUPER - $690 AUD
GeForce RTX 2060 - $599 AUD
As per above the only two cards that remain unchanged are the RTX 2080 Ti which is still the flagship model and the entry-level GeForce RTX 2060. The new SUPER range certainly lives up to the naming too – with the GeForce RTX 2080 SUPER providing better performance than the RTX 2080 at the same price with memory speed has upped to 15.5Gbps. NVIDIA says that it’s faster than a Titan Xp.
The GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER is also faster than the GeForce RTX 2070, for the same price, plus it beats out the previous flagship card the GeForce GTX 1080 Ti. Lastly, the only new addition and not-a-replacement GeForce RTX 2060 SUPER is also faster than the entry-level RTX 2060, ups the video memory to 8GB of memory instead of 6GB. Plus, it’s faster than a GTX 1080, with NVIDIA noting that it just about matches the older RTX 2070 performance. At a lower cost.
Local pricing for the RTX 2080 SUPER will start from $1209 AUD, the RTX 2070 SUPER at $860 AUD, and the RTX 2060 SUPER at $690 AUD. And as a nice bonus, purchasing any of the SUPER cards will include copies of two upcoming ray tracing powered titles Control and Wolfenstein: Youngblood. Very cool.
