Following yesterday's announcement that Bethesda's upcoming debut MMO The Elder Scrolls Online will be coming to both the PlayStation 4, and the Xbox One consoles, Zenimax Online has confirmed that the game won't be supporting cross-platform play between adventurers on the desktop and console versions (thanks VG247).

In response to a fan's Twitter query, the official TESOnline account stated that "#ESO's megaserver technology will allow PC/Mac players to play together. Xbox One & PS4 players will have distinct megaservers." No further reasoning was provided for the decision.

The Elder Scrolls online is due in Autumn 2014 (Northern Spring). Watch the latest gameplay trailer below.
