Building on the creativity found in the Super Mario Maker series, Nintendo is looking to tap into the world of easy to use game development tools with Game Builder Garage -- out exclusively for the Nintendo Switch on June 11.
Described as software as opposed to a game, the aim here is to make the process of programming or building a game as easy as can be. With guided lessons and advanced features the simplicity revolves around connecting "Nodons" -- that is objects and actions and other things like textures and so forth. As per the following trailer the results range from platformers to top-down shooters to racers.
In a way it looks like Nintendo's answer to Dreams -- except more focused on being a straight-up educational tool to help kids and adults alike come to terms with game creation. As mentioned, the Lesson Mode will offer up step-by-step guides designed to be fun and engaging. With the Free Programming mode giving players and users the ability to jump straight into development. Where much like with Super Mario Maker you'll be able to swap between programming and play-testing your creation with a simple press of a button.
Naturally the kicker will be access to player creations, with Game Builder Garage offering the additional feature of seeing behind-the-scenes in Free Programming mode. That is on top of getting to play the games made by others.
Game Builder Garage launches June 11 at $49.95 AUD.
