Following on from similar reports for the Americas and Europe, comes the first bit of Nintendo Switch sales info for Australia and New Zealand. And it's good. Surprisingly so, considering the seemingly lack of public awareness on the Switch as little as a month ago. Although we don't have hard numbers, according to Nintendo Australia launch weekend sales for the Nintendo Switch have made it the most successful Nintendo hardware launch in Australian history.

Also, sales of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild put it as the fastest selling Zelda title across the series' 30-year history dating back to the NES. Also, the biggest single-title sales for a hardware launch, even besting Wii Sports. In terms of cross-platform performance, NPD sales data for last week put Breath of the Wild sales on the Switch second to Horizon Zero Dawn on PS4 -- which naturally has a much larger install base in Australia.
