Available now via the Steam Client Beta, comes official support for Nintendo's Pro Controller for the Nintendo Switch. Which just so happens to be one of the most comfortable and well-built controllers currently available. With excellent build quality, grips, and a sturdy d-pad.
Steam support is currently limited to the Beta client but that means we should expect to find it in the official Steam client sometime in the near future. Like with PS4 and Xbox controller support activation is handled via the controller settings menu. But as the Switch and the Xbox pad have different positions for the A/B and X/Y buttons there's also an option to utilise the Nintendo Button Layout or not.
One feature of the Switch controller that's also supported is the gyro which can be configured and used for aiming in shooters or other games where motion might come in handy.

I presume you would have to plug it in though via a USB-C to A adaptor, but that's doable.
