With the
SNES part of the equation relatively new in that
Nintendo Swtich Online just got a long awaited 16-bit suite of games to play, this does means that the monthly addition of new 8-bit
NES to the online platform will stop. New games will still be added to both NES and SNES libraries, but not on a timely or regular basis.
In a statement made to friend of AusGamers,
Vooks.net, Nintendo Australia confirmed that games "will be added after launch, but those releases will not adhere to a regular schedule". Since making its debut last year Nintendo Switch Online has been adding new NES titles to its library each and every month. With such a solid line-up of titles debuting with the SNES library - including F-Zero, The Legend of Zelda Link's Awakening, Super Metroid, and more - here's hoping the wait isn't too long to see more classics.
If Nintendo Switch Online was to evolve in the coming years to feature a back-catalogue of NES, SNES, N64, and even GameCube era titles - then no doubt it will become as popular among fans as the Nintendo Switch itself.
