Only because we're still waiting patiently for the return of the Virtual Console. But, arcade accurate ports of Nintendo classics like Mario Bros., Balloon Fight, Ice Climber, and Punch-Out! sound pretty good. With Mario Bros. set to make its debut later this month on September 27.

Porting duties are being handled by Hamster, which has worked on bringing a number of Neo Geo arcade classics to PlayStation and Xbox in the past. These ports aim to recreate their original '80s arcade counterparts which means full multiplayer support and noticeable differences to console versions found in the NES.

Which you can clearly see in Punch-Out!

Titles coming include:
  • Vs. Super Mario Bros.
  • Vs. Balloon Fight
  • Vs. Ice Climber
  • Vs. Pinball
  • Vs. Clu Clu Land
  • Punch-Out!

Now here's to the return of the Virtual Console to sit alongside the Virtual Arcade.
