Counting the first 10 months that the Nintendo Switch has been on sale in the United State it has surpassed the Wii to become the fastest selling home video game system in U.S. history. Where in 10 months it has sold more than 4.8 million units.

Which, is a lot. And unlike the Wii, which felt more like a system that non-gamers were buying as a means to dabble in a bit of Wii Tennis every now and then the Switch feels much more like a traditional console. One that has seen the adoption of two of 2017's best games - Super Mario Odyssey and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild - by over 55 percent of all Switch owners.

Neither of which were pack-in titles.

“Fans across the country have experienced the joy of playing their favorite games at home or on the go,” said Reggie Fils-Aime, Nintendo of America’s President and COO. “Now that many more people have received Nintendo Switch systems for the holidays, we look forward to bringing them fun new surprises in 2018 and beyond.”

It's been a stellar year for Nintendo, and with the publisher already releasing The Legend of Zelda, ARMS, Splatoon 2, and Super Mario Odyssey in the space of a few months - we should probably expect to year a lot more about the Switch in 2018 very soon.
