As part of Super Mario's 35th Anniversary, sources close to both
VGC and
Eurogamer have confirmed that remastered
Nintendo Switch versions of
Super Mario 64 (1996),
Super Mario Sunshine (2002), and
Super Mario Galaxy (2007) are all coming this year. In addition to a brand new installment in the
Paper Mario series.
It's an impressive list no doubt, with word that nearly all of the back-catalogue of Super Mario games will arrive on the Switch. Apparently the announcement was set to be a part of Nintendo's big E3 Direct presentation, which has now, err, switched to a separate digital only event.
Also included in the list is Super Mario 3D World (2013) - covering all hardware from the Nintendo 64 through to the Wii U. It's a huge dose of Mario, with Nintendo planning to give people a look at the upcoming Super Mario animated film that's in the works. A 1080p version of Super Mario Galaxy would be amazing to play, as would a full-HD rendition of the misunderstood slice of genius that is Super Mario Sunshine.
