According to the Wall Street Journal the deal is very closed to being signed for a new animated Super Mario Bros. movie from Universal Animation, the studio behind the Minion movies and others. For those wondering why we haven't gotten a new Mario film, one only needs to look at 1993's Super Mario Brothers travesty.
A film that is almost unwatchable. And only becomes so after you make yourself aware of the behind the scenes drama that surrounded the production.
