According to a new report over at VentureBeat Nintendo's E3 style Direct that normally takes place in June has been delayed due to "complications brought about from Japan’s work-from-home order". As for when the next Nintendo Direct will take place the report states that it may arrive in late summer - aka winter for us folks in ANZ.

Since going the digital route for E3 since 2013, each year Nintendo has used the E3 Direct as the place to highlight its first-party plans for the upcoming year. Alongside third-party reveals. With this year being Mario's 35th anniversary as a franchise it has been rumoured that a suite of classic Mario games are coming to the Nintendo Switch - including the GameCube's Super Mario Sunshine, the Wii's Super Mario Galaxy, and the 3D platformer classic Super Mario 64. All set to be revealed during the digital event.

The report notes that several Japanese companies have been struggling with the new work-from-home order in the country, and that businesses there were not prepared for the transition. A fascinating report in The Washington Post notes that Japanese companies haven't been keeping up with the modern transition to cloud-based networking and video conferences - and that the culture of face-to-face meetings and the use of 1990s technology like faxing is still prevalent.
