When Nintendo announced that it was following last year's NES Classic Mini with a Mini Super Nintendo for 2017, it was a cause for celebration. Mainly because the 16-bit SNES is one of the greatest consoles of all time. But there was also concern, thanks to NES Classic Mini shortages that meant that realistically it never saw store shelves - with all units snapped up via pre-orders.

With nowhere near enough units to go around. Production ceased at the end of last year, and a lot people were understandably upset with Nintendo for miscalculating demand. With the recent announcement of the SNES Classic Mini, and the almost immediate selling out of pre-order stock, many people were expecting a similar situation.

Smash cut to today, and an announcement for Nintendo that is the news equivalent of a rainbow filled sky on a sunny day.

"Due to incredible demand for the upcoming [SNES Classic], Nintendo plans to ship the retro-inspired product into 2018. Originally, shipments were announced to cease at the end of this calendar year."

Oh, and the NES Classic Mini will be making a return in 2018 too.

"Fans have shown their unbridled enthusiasm for these Classic Edition systems, so Nintendo is working to put many more of them on store shelves."

Ahh, sweet retro music to our ears.

I picked mine up today, it's a great little unit. What a bargain! I played around with it for about an hour and had a really fun time. Nintendo have outdone themselves.
