During the early morning Nintendo Direct today, Nintendo revealed details about their recently showcased Panorama View demo for the Wii U, an application that allows users to have a 360-view panoramic video by rotating the GamePad as it plays. The demo was last seen at this years E3 and showed off flying with geese.

Nintendo has also announced that Google Maps will be making its way to the Wii U, with the use of the gamepad as a way to interact with the environment by moving the view around with the built-in gyroscope. Users will also be able to interact with the Google "Street View" photos on maps in the same fashion.

Both the Panorama View and Google Maps will be available in the eShop on the Wii U in Q1 2013.

I'm sick of reading "me, too" announcements from this sort of thing. I EXPECT that you have Google Maps. It's not a feature if you have it, it's just a giant black mark if you don't have it. I really want to see companies stop boasting about "features" that are available on every other platform all over the place and to start differentiating their products in a way that makes them unique or interesting!@#
