The next God of War was supposedly out sometime this year, so this is technically a delay. Developer Santa Monica Studio and Head of PlayStation Studios Hermen Hulst have both confirmed that the highly anticipated sequel is now on track for a 2022 release. Does this mean Horizon Forbidden West is coming Holiday 2021? Quite possibly.

Though we're still awaiting a release date on that. According to Hermen Hulst, development on the God of War sequel kicked off after Horizon, so it makes sense that we'll be seeing that first. Also, like that game the next God of War will also be getting a PlayStation 4 release in addition to PlayStation 5.

As per the teaser from last year, what many are calling God of War: Ragnarok was given a tentative 2021 window.

As per today's announcement, Santa Monica Studio writes, "We remain focused on delivering a top-quality game while maintaining the safety and wellbeing of our team, creative partners, and families. With this in mind, we've made the decision to shift our release window to 2022."

Either way, it sounds like development on the next God of War is progressing pretty steadily. With Ratchet & Clank out this month, and Horizon, well, on the horizon -- delay or no delay, the PlayStation exclusives are showing no signs of slowing down.
