Despite a reluctance among Microsoft and Sony to reveal any details regarding a leap from their current generation of hardware to the next, more and more publishers and developers are leaking knowledge they're ramping up development to cater to the obvious next round of consoles.
Today Bethesda Game Studios revealed via the
Bethesda Blog that they're building a team to work on "future-generation consoles and PC", and are subsequently hiring "animators, artists, designers, and programmers". The actual
jobs page also offers that they're looking for a "Future Generation Console Programmer" to work on an "unannounced game", and cite work with DX11 as a plus.
Eurogamer then points out that this "plus" might have something to do with comments made by Crytek's Pete Hall.
"It's going to depend a lot on when Sony and Microsoft decide is the right moment to announce and launch things," he said. "But it does feel at the moment that the hardware we get in next generation consoles will be about the sort of level that DX11 is at - that's where it currently looks like it's going."
Moreover, and adding to the weight behind a next-gen console revelation sometime soon, is news that Epic will be showing off Unreal Engine 4 at GDC next week, and given the saturation of Unreal Engine 3 in this current generation of consoles, it's a no-brainer Epic's development driver will be powering games on future platforms from Nintendo, Microsoft and Sony.
