Whilst also seemingly pulling the plug on continued support by stating in a investor call that "We will not accrue any more impairment loss pertaining to LawBreakers". But perhaps the biggest revelation from the call, which saw the publisher fall short of its targets due to low sales of LawBreakers, was the insistence that it might have been due to the success of PLAYERUNKNOWN'S BATTLEGROUNDS, or PUBG.

"Our results in North America in the third quarter were below our outlook, mainly due to the sales from LawBreakers being below our expectations. LawBreakers is a unique FPS developed for core users. We had very high expectations for its launch; however, the timing of its launch turned out to be unfortunate, specifically the blockbuster PC online game PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds came out right about the same time, making the market environment very tough for first-person shooters in general and for LawBreakers."

PLAYERUNKNOWN'S BATTLEGROUNDS which broke the 3 million concurrent player count on Steam in December no doubt captured the attention of millions of PC gamers in 2017, but chalking up low sales as a result of its success feels like a stretch. LawBreakers, a fun and engaging shooter, unfortunately failed to find an audience from the get go. And with a peak player count less than 100 for the month of December, news of Nexon pulling out financial support of the title makes sense.
