Nintendo's revival of the classic 2D side-scrolling style that birthed their iconic flagship franchise continues with New Super Mario Bros. 2. Following the well received Nintendo DS and Nintendo Wii "New" efforts, the somewhat confusingly-named Nintendo 3DS game promises more platforming goodness in the mushroom Kingdom. But does it live up to it's namesake? AusGamers' reviewer Jickle weighs in:
New Super Mario Bros 2 is a Mario game, and in some ways it gives you pretty much what you’d expect. But it’s also the first Mario game I’ve ever played that frequently bored me, and as much as it manages to nail the central mechanics and tick many of the right boxes, it also serves as worrying proof that, in the world of gaming, no series is truly sacred.
