Star Citizen has become one of those games you hear about being in development, somehow still adding funds and always looking better and better every time you decide to see where it's at now. A new trailer from the 2.0 alpha that premiered at The Game Awards 2015 is showing us that this potential gem of a game is coming along very, very nicely.
Promising to blend space flight simulation, first-person action and shooting with EVA and more, Star Citizen is arguably one of the most ambitious development undertakings ever started. It's budget, however, is huge and it has Mark Hamil attached to it, which brings all the fanboys and fangirls to the yard. But don't let me sell it to you anymore than that, have a look at it for yourself, embedded below.
I bought into it, got a nice $80 ship....problem is the game in its current form is absolute crap, almost impossible to get running , key bindings, getting it to recognise peripherals, ect..ect...it does look nice once you do get into space but for an allegedly already expended $90 million to get to this stage??...i have HUGE concerns about the end product....if it does ever end.
Plus there all that legal shenanigans about funds being embezzled, people threatening to lawyer up and then not (that's a bit suss in itself), family members being appointed to development directors (like his wife) and knowing zip about game development, private jets being commissioned for holiday jaunts ect...just screams of a 'fishy Denmark' to me. pfft I may have blown 80 clams. ah well.

Yep, there's lots of rumors on the net (as usual, god only knows what is true), but, say, during Derek Smart "drama" SC's pledgemeter actually went wild!?! They don't seem too affected, on the contrary.
I wish them success not because I like the game (I'm more of a medieval fantasy guy) but I see SC's success or failure as very important for the future of crowdfunding - and IMO therefore gaming in general.
Yeah, in the days of kick-started games and early access and such I'm not sure "going gold" is an entirely relevant concept anymore. But I can't honestly see this game ever getting finished, I do hope though that when the money runs out and they have to scope it down to actually release a product, that it still ends up being something fun. I really would love a new space game that is a bit less sim than Elite is, more like X-wing and Wing Commander were.
the TOG clan dumped a few hundred thousand Au into this game from memory before I left - my hat goes goes off the the old guys at TOG - I hope they enjoy the game to it's full potential... that they helped create. Money does little to grow a project. It just keeps it alive.
this is the next Counterstrike. It's the EA Battlefield universe of steroids.
I liken this to Testra and NBN. Telstra knows NBN is failing - some would say that Telstra has won the day.
TaTa is coming in to perform Malcom T's NBN failure - and this game will draw a similar parallel.
It's not as if the game was created using any Australian govt resources or anything... it's just a videogame

Personally I like the one where some guy runs around pushing peoples ships off into space from the landing pad before they can get into it.

*Disclaimer - yes I know it actually hasn't gone "gold" yet.

My wallet is more skeptical though.
