Ubisoft's much-loved Rainbow 6 franchise is back in a new installment sub-titled "Patriots". However, instead of cashing in on the modern terrorist stereotype, they've switched it up some and have introduced a right-wing home-grown conservative group as the elite team's new antagonists.
Developed by Ubisoft Montreal with the support of Ubisoft Toronto and Red Storm, Tom Clancy’s Rainbow 6 Patriots revolves around a dynamic single-player storyline that captures the reality of modern-day terrorism and allows players to experience it from multiple characters’ perspectives.
The "multiple characters' perspectives" line has us a bit concerned they're going for a bit of a Modern Warfare narrative approach, but mixing up the baddies still sounds good to us.

"Terrorism has evolved, and so has Rainbow 6," explained David Sears, creative director at Ubisoft via press release. "In Tom Clancy’s Rainbow 6 Patriots, all the team play, tactics, and realism that fans of the series love have been coupled with an exciting new narrative direction. This adds an unprecedented level of humanity that will make Tom Clancy’s Rainbow 6 Patriots an extremely tense and immersive experience.”
In Tom Clancy’s Rainbow 6 Patriots, Team Rainbow faces a new and very real threat called the “True Patriots,” a highly-trained, well-organised revolutionary group that claim the American government is irrevocably corrupted by greedy politicians and corporate special interests. The True Patriots will do whatever it takes to reclaim their country. Playing as Team Rainbow, players will face critical scenarios that will require them to make tough ethical decisions in order to stop this new breed of terrorists.
The game will also support a "huge variety of new innovative co-op and multiplayer experiences".

Currently there isn't much else known about the game, nor any new media, but stay tuned and we'll serve it up to you as we get it. Tom Clancy's Rainbow 6: Patriots is due on PS3, Xbox 360 and PC in 2013.

After reading that, i have come to the conclusion that the True Patriots are the good guys. They are just trying to reclaim the country from greedy politicians and corporate special interests. Rainbow 6 are the terrorists and the bad guys as they represent the corrupt government.

It's the same in real life.

Gameinformer have an exclusive month long information thing going on at the moment about this. Including a concept video of what game play could be like. Looks interesting.

Video is down the bottom of the page.

Hope you don't mind linking that Steve.

DocterMoist I second that. Though it really depends what happens in the games story - maybe Team Rainbow change sides? Who knows.

Playing as the bad guys (Team Rainbow) might still be enjoyable though. They'll probably paint the revolutionaries as crazies with strange practises/ideas and mix that with the reality of todays truth with that about corrupt politicians/special interests. Good way of distorting a truth.

I don't really bother normally with Rainbow 6 games but this has got me interested to at least know more about it and see what type of propaganda/social engineering this is. So something to look forward to at least with reading some reviews about.

Even if your crazy little delusions were true, the way to fight greedy politicians and corporate specials interests (?) is not by armed rebellion.

Not straight away anyway.

That's a start and to be honest, it has had a pretty far reaching effect. People all around the world are doing it and everyone knows about it.

It would be a lot better if I saw less of the no to vaccines and if the 9/11 truther crazy people stayed away from them as well. They really bring that s*** down and discredit it.

fpot are you saying greedy/corrupt politicians and the special interests is delusional? Then go on to say regardlessly that ows is the solution?.. to a delusion?
You also reject rebellion AND then support it in the same post (basing it more on a time issue) :)
Curious to know what part of ows do you find to be the 'legitimate' part and if you had any solution for that legitimate parts wants that you support?

To the (?) of special interests, the most obvious would be large multinational banking conglomerates (J.P. Morgan Chase, Goldman Sachs etc).
Anyway nothing you can do about it: just watch the show and have a nice cup of tea

Nah I am not. I was more referring to DocterMoist's posting history being delusional. Politicians and corporate fatcats are inherently greedy and untrustworthy.

And I was saying rebellion is fine, but not armed rebellion.

Ah oh, nvm then. I'll just say truth is far stranger than fiction :) "Question everything, disregard nothing" seems like a good words to live by.

Sounds like peaceful/unarmed rebellion relies heavily on large numbers and/or a lack of resolve to maintain power by whatever hierarchy commands... corruption has always been with us, I think its just become more apparent to the world since its far more out in the open, like a taunt? Would be interesting to see what comes of the ows

OOO TEA!
