Yesterday when it
was announced that
Lucasfilm Games was back we wrote a little note that it could mean we'd be getting a new
Indiana Jones game sometime in the future. Well, that future is today (at least announcement-wise) with word that
Bethesda studio
MachineGames is working on a new original Indiana Jones game.
With the project executive produced by Todd Howard. With MachineGames responsible for the recent and excellent
Wolfenstein reboot it'll be interesting to see what style of game this will be. Probably not a first-person shooter, and probably not a point-and-click adventure game ala the amazing
Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis from the mid-90s.
No word on what myth Indy will tackle in this new adventure, though odds are he'll be going up against Nazis -- which kind of makes the property a perfect fit for Machine Games. According to Pete Hines, SVP of Global Marketing at Bethesda, “Todd [Howard] is a lifelong Indy fan, and has been trying for over a decade to make this game, he’s beyond excited to work with the award-winning MachineGames team, a perfect fit for Indy.”
That said, as per the teaser above we do see a plane ticket for Rome, making that potential location -- no doubt there's a tonne of clues in there. As per the announcement Bethesda has been light on details but notes that the story will be set during the height of Indy's career, which probably means sometime between the timelines of Raiders and Last Crusade (when looking at the films).
