New Humble Bundle Launches with Frozen Synapse

The Humble Bundle team have released yet another awesome pack of DRM-free indie games that run on Windows, Mac and Linux -- once again available for purchase at a user-specified price point and the option to specifying how much of your proceeds go to the games' developers and to the Child's Play charity.

For 14 days you can name your price for Frozen Synapse while supporting charity at the same time. If you beat the promotion average you will also get the Humble Frozenbyte Bundle which includes the games Trine, Shadowgrounds Survivor, Shadowgrounds, the game prototype Jack Claw and a preorder for Splot which is currently in development.

I'm normally all over these things but I feel this one is a little bit of a cop out. Its not really a bundle with one game and then spend X amount to get an old bundle too. Not to mention I already own all the other games from the last bundle.

That being said though its definitely worth getting it (above average cost) for Trine because its one of the most fun games I've played - and I probably still will buy it for the sake of supporting the devs/charity.

Frozen Synapse had such potential but the planning/execution interface with the loading screen literally ruins the entire game.

I played one single match then uninstalled, I would not recommend to anyone, perhaps you can pay $0.01 and then come to the same conclusion a few minutes later when you encounter the loading screen.

EDIT: Just watched the trailer... did they edit out the loading screen or did I have an old version? If they edited it out that's a sneaky c*** of a move, doesn't represent the true gameplay.

Heh yeah. It's kind of hard to get worked up over it not technically being a bundle though, when the fact is that they're still letting you pick up a reasonably new $25 indie game for as little as a dollar.

forget what chubster said, i highly recommend frozen synapse. awesome to play with friends. it's got a ton of depth and there are always people ready to play against. there are a bunch of gamemodes and the possibilities in this game are endless - if you're clever enough, you can plan your way out of any situation.

i don't know what he's talking about with the loading screen (the time maybe?). it does take a little while for the server to process you and your opponents' turn, but it IS a play-by-email game. CIV5 takes about thirty times longer.

I'm talking about everytime you submit a turn, it leaves the playfield to a separate loading screen and then returns again for the outcome.

It's a very minor detail but I couldn't stand exiting to a separate loading screen everytime a turn was ended.
