Who goes by the name of River and belongs to Joel Burgess, the lead level designer of Fallout 4. Paired alongside footage of Fallout 4, the similarities between real-world River and in-game Dogmeat are striking to say the least. And go a long way in explaining why this time around companions won't be able to die. Also in Fallout 4 news, we've got a few extra 'bits o' info' concerning companions.

With the main one being that players will be able to romance any human companion, regardless of gender. How very BioWare of you, Bethesda. And although that sounds liberal and open minded, it does leaves the option to romance robot-butler Mister Handy at the door. Also it leaves the question, "Can a ghoul find love?", unanswered. No doubt there will be mods to rectify these shortcomings.

Dogmeat and the aforementioned Mister Handy will also make up two of the around a dozen or so companions in Fallout 4. Other companions announced so far are Piper and Preston Garvey, with the remainder to most likely remain a mystery until the game launches in November.
