Last week Microsoft held their Spring Showcase 2012, a event that features a lot of new info for games coming to Xbox 360. At the event, Valve was nice enough to release some new screenshots for their upcoming title in the Counter-Strike series, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive.

Featuring in the screenshots was of course Xbox 360 gameplay, something that hasn't been seen since Counter-Strike was on the original Xbox. Now that CS:GO is coming to PlayStation 3, PC and Xbox 360, it will be interesting to see how the dominant PC FPS will do on consoles, a place that sees Gears of War, Halo or Call of Duty appeal more to the mass.

Check out the screenshots below which give a nice view of what to expect on the Xbox 360 version (as well as a hint at a new map), and you can also head over to our game page for the latest on this upcoming sequel to a very favourable game series.

If this has more than 5 maps, I might just start playing CS again. I'm fully sick to death of the mw3 maps already, avoiding bf3 after all the dramas I had with bad company, tried playing cs sauce a little while ago but de_dust on infinite loop left a bad taste in my mouth.

How do you get in on the action? Do you have to put your name into a hat, or do they just send out random invites?

On retails they will have 8 maps for standard play and a fair few for the arsenal (gun game) mode and more will be made down the track. You can get a chance to score a beta key by completing the steam survey(You need the steam client)

solid website *thumbsup*

I like the bit where clicking a thumbnail in the gallery doesn't take you to a thumbnail sized image (*hint for ausgamers TODO list*)

I hate sites that do this, you click a thumbnail which opens the thumbnail in a new window and you click that to get the full image. What the hell? I had a free image gallery php script thing that did this when I was trying to set up my own small picture gallery.

There's a lot of great javascript / jquery plugins which give the gallery functionality which shouldn't be too hard to implement for this site.

It looks pretty nice if it still has that same feel as coutnerstrike did with more modern FPS adaptations (no perks or specilzations or anything though please) it should be pretty awesome..
