For all intents and purposes Baldur's Gate: Siege of Dragonspear is an expansion to the classic RPG first released in 1998 that bridges the gap between the climactic events of that game and its year 2000 sequel, Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn. As an expansion to the recently released Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition from Beamdog it also serves to bridge the gap until the eventual release of Baldur's Gate II: Enhanced Edition. And how!
Expand Your Story: Continue your adventure in Baldur’s Gate II: Enhanced Edition after completing Siege of Dragonspear
The Crusade Rises: A sharp and subtle adventure that pits you against an enigmatic new foe
Explore the Sword Coast: Venture through vibrant new regions of the Sword Coast, with an area greater than Tales of the Sword Coast and Throne of Bhaal put together!
Gather Your Party: The original cast returns to kick butt for goodness—along with Neera, Rasaad, Dorn, and four new additions!
Double the Items: Over 100 new items—almost double the number than in all other enhanced editions combined
Extra Class: First new player class in over fifteen years: the spirit-calling shaman!
Venture Forth With A Friend: Cross-platform multiplayer on all supported platforms
Story Mode: A difficulty setting to allow players to experience all of the story with none of the Game Over screens
Legacy of Bhaal Mode: A difficulty setting offering tactical challenges only the most skilled of players can hope to defeat
Now, the following trailer may look like a high-resolution and polished version of a classic late-'90s PC RPG, but you're totally right. It is.
Baldur's Gate: Siege of Dragonspear can be purchased from the official site.
Prolly gonna buy this, maybe not straight up. Might do a straight playthrough in January, have a couple very longhaul flights coming up!
IMO they did a great job on the EEs, considering what they had to work with.
If only they had all the original assets :( Such a shame that Bioware / Black Isle / whoever's f*****g job it was didn't properly archive it. There's no real excuse for losing digital material like that and its not like it was the 60s or 70s, it was well understood in the early 2000s that the material had significant value.
I'm a bit of a fanboy so this will sound silly, but seriously to me that was a f*****g crime.
I had a buncha buncha people have a go at me for saying a similar thing about Square losing assets to Kingdom Hearts 1 and 2, when those HD remixes came out. And that was post-2000s!
I agree, though. I'm still shocked to hear of ANY company not protecting its assets from say, the late 80s onwards. Or at least early 90s when hard drives became relatively accessible.
