GAME TRIVIA - Did You Know?
Activision's expectations for the
THPS game, let alone series, was super-low in comparison to where it landed. The reason why it was such a huge success? Apart from the obvious: kids wanting a genuine skateboarding experience from the comfort of their lounges, Tony landed the first ever 900 at the
X-Games in 1999 which made headlines around the world and skyrocketed skateboarding into the mainstream. That landmark landing just so happened to stick a month out from the game's initial release. Talk about guerrilla marketing.
